Black Cauldron Detective Agency is HERE

Yes, yes, I know. I've been hinting at a new book percolating in my brain for over a year. I've been working on it quietly, and now it's almost here. I've wanted to write this book for a couple of years, and it's taken many formats, but I always knew I wanted witches, detectives, and a risky case. What came of it? The Black Cauldron Detective Agency series follows Ava Ramos and her coven as they solve crimes, get into terrible messes, and fight back with magic.

The first book of the series, UNEARTHLY MAGIC, will come out later this spring.

Ava Ramos is on the warpath, and that’s never a good thing for an Earth Mage as strong and volatile as her. Lourdes, the Queen of Witches, and her longtime mentor and friend is dead, and Ava knows it involves that potion Lourdes had been working on, the one she urged her to destroy. When the Queen's Guard finds Lourdes dead, Ava and her coven and fellow private detectives get pegged for suspects. Not only are they the last to see her alive, but they’re at her palace for reasons they can’t explain to anyone.

I'm so excited about this upcoming release. I'm in the middle of one of the multiple drafts I've worked on, and I might be losing my mind. It's 3:20 am, and I'm up writing blog posts so I can write all day. I'm so in love with the characters and the story, and I can't wait to share it with you.

Have you signed up for my newsletter? Because I'm terrible at uploading all the blog posts sitting as drafts in my files, the newsletter is the best way to keep up with what's going on in Matilda's world. Go to the main page, www.matildareyes.com, and wait for the popup. That's it. Pitch done.

I receive questions from readers and other writers all the time, and I want to share a few with you. What is your favorite trope? My favorite trope by far is the Masquerade. That simply means that mag
